BVM students selected for national chess trials

Three students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar branch, represented Ludhiana district chess team in the Punjab State Schools Chess Tournament held at Barnala from October 17 to 22.

Deepti Sharma, student of Class X; Ansh Anand and Daman Sharma, both students of Class VIII; participated in this tournament, organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and finished among position holders.

Deepti won all eight matches to secure 8/8 points to clinch gold medal while Ansh and Daman secured third position to win bronze medals.

Both Ansh and Daman have been selected to attend the selection trials for the Punjab teams to take part in the National Schools Chess Championship.

The medal winners were honoured at the morning assembly today. Principal Bandana Sethi lauded the students and Baljeet Singh Gill, head of the Physical Education Department, on bringing fame to the school.
