“A new year is like a notebook of 365 blank pages, and you have to write every page with actions and words. So we must try to write good things on each page, so that when the year draws to a close, we hand over a good book to the next year. Beginning of the year with the release of a calendar based on ‘Symbols of Faith’ is like starting a first page with spirituality, says Surjit Patar, on the occasion of release of the calendar for the New Year based on the theme of Articles of Faith.
The calendar was released today at Gurdwara Singh Sabha at Sarabha Nagar. The concept and photography for the calendar has been done by a city-based lawyer Harpreet Singh Sandhu. Speaking on the occasion, Sandhu said, he dedicates this calendar to the 350th Gurpurab to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
“That is the reason why I decided to photograph the articles of faith including the ‘Khanda’ at Anandpur Sahib, and visited Gurdwaras at Fategarh Sahib and more,” he said.
Patar said there were two aspects of any faith, the first being the abstract, teachings, learning and scriptures. The other are the more tangible and visible symbols.
“It is good that Sandhu has gone to capture those symbols of Sikhism and captured those in the form of calendar,” he said.
Poet Gurbhajan Singh Gill said it was good that a lawyer has carried on his passion for advocacy along with his interest for art of photography as well, which is commendable.
