In an incident that disturbed many onlookers and visitors at the district administrative complex, a car from the parking lot was towed away for ‘wrong parking’ and vehicles parked in the ‘tow-away zone’ along the DC office block were not even touched.

A tow-away vehicle also entering the complex was rarity and many onlookers anticipated that the wrongly parked vehicles were ‘finally’ towed away on Friday. But to the surprise of many, instead of going towards the tow-away zone, the tow-away vehicle went into the parking lot meant for the staff of the complex and towed away a vehicle parked there.

When asked from the traffic cop what was wrong with the vehicle parked in the parking lot, he said they had received a call that a vehicle had been ‘wrongly parked’. It was the parking lot attendant, who made a complaint.

On being asked as to why the complaint was made against the vehicle parked in the parking lot, he said he was being admonished by officials that their way had been blocked. He called the traffic police to remove the car blocking the way.

“The person parking should have some sense that vehicles of the staff members have been parked and he should not have parked his car in the way,” he said.

However, when asked from the traffic cop if he did not see the vehicles parked in the tow-away zone, he said: “I never received any complaint.” Moreover, those were the vehicles of officers, so he could not have towed those away, he said.

Harinder, a city resident who was standing there, said it was clear how the law was only enforced on the common man and those in power, including officials, have the licence to violate rules.
