City gymnast Vinod Bhatt proving his mettle

Vinod Bhatt is a promising gymnast and has exhibited credentials to prove his mettle in the game at the national and international competitions.
Vinod (18), a former student of local Police DAV Public School, Civil Lines, got admission in BBA at DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, this year.
Vinod, a trainee of senior coach with the Punjab Sports Department, Prem Singh, has proved his class in the Punjab State Gymnastics Competition and the Open Senior Punjab Gymnastics Championship.
He cornered glory in the 64th edition of the Punjab State Schools Games held at Patiala in 2018 wherein Vinod bagged six medals, including one gold medal, and made his presence felt.
Vinod was adjudged the best all-round gymnast in this competition. He won gold medal in roman rings, besides silver medals in the table vault, high bar, parallel bars and floor exercise events, and a bronze medal in the pommel horse event.
Vinod also clinched bronze medal in the Open Senior Punjab State Gymnastics held at Jalandhar.
For his fine performance in the state championship, Vinod was selected for the National School Games held at Agartala (Tripura). He along with another trainee from the Ludhiana Gymnastic Coaching Centre being run by the Sports Department at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium, Prince Kumar, participated in this championship.
The duo did not get any position there. However, they had the competition exposure against the best as the talented gymnasts from across the country competed in this championship.
Vinod has been undergoing coaching to prepare for the upcoming Senior Punjab State Gymnastics Championship (U-25) scheduled to be held in mid-August.
Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, appreciated Vinod Bhatt and his co-trainee, Keshav Thakur for their outstanding and consistent performance. He wished them and their coach Prem Singh good luck for future competitions.
