Abhishek Gir along with Khwab Gautam, Parmeet Singh Grewal, Seerat Suniar, Ishwar Singh and Tejeshwar Singh gave a good account of themselves by finishing among position holders in the International Karate Championship held in Singapore, recently.

Apart from them, Paras Kular from Cambridge International School, Jammu, and Vansh Kular of Doon International School, Jammu, competed in the 39th Gojukai International Karate Championship at Singapore, wherein around 600 players drawn from 15 countries took part. All these players from the region secured positions.

Shihan Ashok Chauhan, general secretary, Ludhiana District Karate Do Association, who accompanied the team as an official, said Abhishek Gir from Jitendera Greenfield School, Gurusar Sudhar, grabbed the third position in the Under-11 category, while Khwab Gautam of Green Grove Buddies School, Doraha, secured the fifth position in the same age group.

In the Under-11 section, Parneet Singh, a student of Peace Public School, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana, bagged the fourth position and in the Under-15 group, Seerat Sunair of Delhi World Public School, Ludhiana, secured the third place.

Tejeshwar Singh of Peace Public School finished at the fourth place in the Under-15 category, while Paras and Vansh, both from Jammu, bagged the fourth position.

These players have been selected for the World Martial Arts Championship, slated to be held in the US in October. They would be imparted advance training prior to their participation in the forthcoming championship, said Ashok Chauhan.
