Goyal, who has secured 96.4% marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII exam and a perfect 100 in chemistry, aspires to become a software engineer. His favourite subject is mathematics. He says one should keep the fundamentals and theorems clear while studying the subject.
While sharing his preparation strategy, Goyal said: “One is required to understand all concepts thoroughly and practise regularly during the JEE preparation. One should take tests every weekend or fortnight. Last month, I took tests daily. After the mains result, I moved to Chandigarh and prepared for the advanced exam.”
He started preparing for JEE four years ago when he was in Class IX. His father, Dr Sunil Goyal, is a rural medical officer and mother, Dr Rinkal Goyal, a Health Department official. His mother said: “I am feeling very proud. He started his journey from Class IX. He started reading Class XI material in Class IX itself. This has been a journey of four years of hard work and persistence.”
Goyal also represented India along with others at International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held last year in Brazil. His preparation for JEE suffered due to participation in the Olympiad. His father said: “At times, he felt depressed and anxious. We told him to keep moving and supported him in every way possible.”
