Students were elated despite getting the bicycles at the end of their session of Class XII. Girls said, “Though it is late, we will use bicycles after taking admission in college. We used to come to school on foot.”

When the MLA was told that the scheme was initiated by previous SAD-BJP government, he said, “Yes, it was started by them. When next government takes over, many schemes are scrapped. However, we are continuing with it for the benefit of girl students. We will see if bicycles can be given to needy boys as well,” said Pandey.

When asked about distribution of bicycles in bulk ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the MLAS said the government wants to make everyone happy.

The MLA said Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab was trying hard to provide best education facilities to students. Maximum benefits were being provided to students so that they can excel in life, he said.
