Payal MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, who is also a member of the Punjab Health Committee, said the construction of the 50-bedded civil hospital in Doraha would begin as early as possible. The building plan for the same has been cleared and the Health Minister has given a final nod to the construction of the same in the shortest possible period.

Talking to this correspondent, Lakha said during his recent meeting with Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, he had informed the minister about the urgent need for the civil hospital in the town. “I had also apprised him of the construction of a trauma centre as well so that first aid may be provided to the accident victims without losing any precious time. As the town is situated on the national highway, a number of accidental victims suffer due to lack of immediate aid,” said the local MLA.

“Last week, we met Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu who cleared the final building plan of the same and promised that as soon as the Finance Department releases the grant for the same, the work of construction will be started at war footing with the permission of Capt Amarinder Singh,” he said.
