Ludhiana, October 30

The district unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) today took a strong notice of visit of European Union MPs to Kashmir at the behest of the Indian government. This is direct intervention in our internal affairs, said CPI leaders during a press conference held here.

“On the pretext of security situation in Kashmir, several Indian political leaders and MPs were denied permission to visit Kashmir. So to facilitate the visit of foreign European Union MPs is a serious issue which needs to be condemned. As the reports are coming that this was organised by some NGO, which had blessings of the Indian government, is even more serious,” they added.

“With this, the BJP government led by Narendra Modi is thoroughly exposed as they have themselves made Kashmir an international issue. This attitude of the Indian government smacks of the ulterior motives as the European Union MPs allowed to visit the valley are known to have right wing views, therefore, it is not just a coincidence that the Prime Minister found time to meet these MPs who are on a private visit. This is a total sell out of the nation and it has exposed the hollow slogans of pseudo nationalism by this government,” said Dr Arun Mitra.

The leaders further added no wonder this RSS and its outfits never took part in the freedom struggle rather connived with the British government.

“They are repeating the same action now. This visit must be exposed and opposed by all Indians as it is direct intervention in our internal affairs. If this was a private visit, why these MPs were accorded welcome and provided security of high level by the government. There was a total strike in the valley. Even the shops which used to open from 7 am to 9 am did not open, is itself a clear indication of the resentment among the people against the government and hollow claims of normalcy in the state,” they further added.
