Right arm leg break spinner Mankaran Singh (4 wickets for 9 runs) today weaved a deadly bowling spell while Harshdeep remained unconquered on 31 runs to anchor Ludhiana Club to 27-run win over Samrat Coolers XI in the second match in the U-12 section during the ongoing Cricket Tournament for Mahajan Trophy being conducted by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association, an affiliated body of the Punjab Cricket Association, here at GRD Academy, Hambran Road.
Rajesh Gupta, managing director, Samrat Coolers, and vice-president of the tournament organising association inaugurated the match and wished the players good luck.
Batting first after winning the toss, Ludhiana Club made 94 runs after losing four wickets in the allotted 25 overs.
Taksh contributed 16 runs, Kavish scored 14 runs while Harshdeep remained unbeaten on 31 whereas Ansh chipped in with five runs.
For Samrat Coolers XI, Divyam captured two wickets for nine runs. Harshit and Tushar claimed one wicket each after conceding 9 and 17 runs, respectively.
Though the target set by Ludhiana Club was not a big one, it was some accurate and penetrative bowling by Mankaran Singh who made the batsmen dance to his tune. He went on to rip apart the batting line-up with his bowling.
Only one batsman, Divyam, could reach double figure (13 runs). Besides, Divyam, Karan, Armaan and Aarnav made 8, 6 and 5 runs, respectively.
Mankaran grabbed four wickets for only nine runs while Kavish scalped two victims for three runs to contain Samrat Coolers XI to 67 runs with 11 balls to spare. Ansh got one wicket for five runs.
