Generating funds for noble cause
Ludhiana: In a novel way of generating funds for noble cause, a city-based hair and beauty saloon “Piazza” donated one day earnings to the local chapter of Red Cross Society. The event “Makeover for humanity” was orga-nised and conceptualised by Piazza owner Abhay Girdhar in association with the district administration. Talking about the concept evolution, Girdhar said it was few weeks ago when he visited the Mata Chintapurni temple in Himachal Pradesh and noticed people donating and working selflessly for the good cause of downtrodden and the poor section of society. “The selfless services by the people there made me think what I can do. I decided to utilise my talent to generate funds for the local chapter of Red Cross Society and got in touch with the Deputy Commissioner, who is also president of the district unit of Indian Red Cross Society,” he added.
