Mental health session
Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, organised a one-day workshop on ‘Mental Health of Students’ for councillors and coordinators of senior Secondary Schools Ludhiana. As many as 50 teachers from 32 schools attended the workshop. Dr Shruti Shourie, a psychologist was the resource person. She said the students should never be labeled as good or bad but the individual differences should be appreciated. The students also undergo a lot of stress and that may affect their behaviour. She further said that a teacher should try to find out the reasons behind the behavior of the students rather than to punish them for their misbehavior. If a student does not pay attention, the teacher should pay attention to him/her and respond to the specific need of the student, she suggested. — TNS
