Cycle parts assn members meet officials of PPCB

Members of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) held a meeting with officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) today. The meeting with the PPCB XEN, Manohar Lal Chohan, was held under the aegis of the UCPMA president, Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma.

As per order of the Supreme Court to the National Green Tribunal last date to receive consent from the pollution control board was May 22.

The PPCB XEN, Manohar Lal Chohan, approached the association to make it aware that the industry that had not become membersof Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society (LETS) and had no consent from the PPCB should immediately apply for the same.

“The department is going to start door to door survey and will seal the industry without any further notice. The PPCB has already prepared a list of defaulters. This all is being done to improve the environment and the quality of ground water for the benefit of the industry and the public,” said Chohan.

The UCPMA, CICU and LETS have decided to organise camp from Monday onwards. It will start at 11 am. Any member, who needs help to get approval from the PPCB, can visit the camp.

UCPMA poll on Sep 9

The elections to the managing committee of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers (UCPMA) will be held on September 9. The decision was taken at a meeting in this connection, held under the presidentship of Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma.

It was decided in the meeting that voting for the upcoming election would be held through bio metric I-card issued by the UCPMA. The issue of members, who had not paid subscription for more than a year, besides those, who failed to pay their dues after 30 days of the registered notice, was also discussed.

It was decided that the name of such persons would be deleted from the list of registered members as per clause 23 (B) of the article of the association.
