Three-city based youth — Sanjay Verma, Nayak Muradia, Ranbir Singh along with Abhishekh and Sanchit from Delhi and Riya from Mumbai — went for Manali-Leh Cycling Expedition recently.

They went by bus from Ludhiana to Manali on June 20. During their two-day stay in Manali they did some warm-up cycling. They left for Leh on 24 June. After crossing Rohtang, Keylong, Baralachla, Nakeela, Lachungla and Taglangla, they finally reached Khardung La at 18,380 feet, which is the world’s highest motorable road.

Sharing his experience, Sanjay Verma said it was a mesmerising experience for all of them. It was an adventurous trip as they went through flower valleys, forests and tiny beautiful villages, he added.

While going on the cycle tour, Verma along with other group members interacted with locals at different places and got to know about their life-style, besides other routine tasks undertaken in such harsh and cold climatic conditions.

Another cyclist Nayak Muradia said during their cycle expedition, there were many such moments when they felt they would not be able to maintain their balance due to strong winds. He said, “Our strong will and persistence motivated us to reach final destination.”

Sanjay Verma is a passionate cycle rider. He cycled from Ludhiana to Bengaluru covering 2,458 km in 2013. He reached Bengaluru in one and half months. Being an ardent follower of ‘Art of Living’ organisation, Verma spread the message of communal harmony and safe environment through his long-distance cycle ride.
