Three students — Aradhya Shukla, Harshika Dhammi and Jessica Dua — from DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, have been selected for the district teams for the inter-district cricket tournaments to be held by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).
Aradhya Shukla, a student of Class IX, was selected to represent the Ludhiana U-16 team in the inter-district tournament for the ML Markan Trophy, wherein he played as a medium pacer.
Ludhiana reached the last four stage. In the semifinal, Ludhiana lost to Patiala on the basis of first innings lead to make an exit.
Last year, Aradhya was a member of the Ludhiana U-14 team and gave a fine performance for which he was selected to attend the coaching camps organised by the PCA at Patiala and Mohali.
Harshika Dhammi, a student of Class VIII, appeared for the selection trials conducted by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association to select the Ludhiana girls’ U-19 team as well as for the senior girls’ squad and got the selectors’ nod in both categories.
For her performance in the tournaments held by the Punjab Education Department, Harshika was picked up last year also to attend the national camp at Moga for the talented and promising girl U-17 cricketers.
Another student from the school, Jessica Dua, a student of Class VIII, figured in the district U-17 and U-19 teams.
She performed well as medium pacer for which she was shortlisted for the national coaching camp at Moga.
Amandeep Singh, cricket coach and the physical education teacher at DAV Public School, under whose guidance the trio excelled, praised these cricketers and exuded confidence that they would achieve heights in the near future and bring fame to their parents and the state.
Principal Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu lauded the students on bringing glory to the school and wished them and their mentor success in future.
