DAV, Spring Dale students excel

Ludhiana, August 2

Students of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, and those from Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School, Sherpur Road, proved their mettle in taekwondo competitions held here at different venues.

The participants representing DAV Public School stamped their supremacy, winning 20 medals in the Open District Taekwondo Tournament held at Presidium School, while students from Spring Dale School bagged 11 medals in different age groups in a competition organised at Perfect Taekwondo Academy.

In the Open District Taekwondo Tournament, around 250 participants took part. Students of DAV Public School competed in the U-14 and U-17 categories. The participants, namely Shifali Oberoi, Harshita Thakur, Rudra Mehta, Gursimran Kaur, Anhadpreet Singh, Manvir Singh, Harshit Chaudhary, Aseem Batra, Lakshay Chand, Hardik Mittal, Shiven Mathru and Palak Thakur, won 12 gold medals, seven silver and one bronze medal. Principal JK Sidhu congratulated the students on this achievement. She appreciated the sports in-charge who made it possible for students to finish among position holders. She encouraged the students to strike a balance between sports and academics to be the winners at all fronts.

Similarly, the students from Spring Dale School who performed well to secure medals were Ankita, Damanpreet Singh, Ram Kishan, Gaurav Sharma, Hardik, Akash Kumar, Kamal Rehal and Mohd Danish (all gold medal winners); Tanya Mishra and Manya Rai (silver medalists) and Rahul Rana won bronze medal.

Avinash Kaur Walia, Managing Director of the school, lauded the students for bringing fame to the school. Mandeep Singh, Kamalpreet Kaur, both directors, along with Principal Anil Kumar Sharma, also appreciated the feat and wished them more success in future.
