Ludhiana, March 28

The Vigilance Bureau, Economic Offences Wing, today nabbed a deed writer while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. He has been identified as Amit Gupta.

Paramjit Singh Virk, SSP, Economic Offences Wing, said Manjit Singh of Model Town Extension had lodged a complaint with the bureau. Manjit said he had recently bought a plot near Haibowal for Rs 2 lakh. He met a deed writer, Amit Gupta, who told him that he enjoyed a good rapport with the Tehsildar and there was no need to take an NOC from GLADA. Gupta then told the complainant to hand him over the documents along with Rs 25,000 bribe and he would get his work done.

Manjit approached the Vigilance office. A team today laid a trap at the office of Sub-Registrar (West) and caught Gupta while taking bribe. TNS
