Ludhiana:Gopal Saha of West Bengal pipped his opponents to emerge as the overall champion in the physically challenged section of the 8th edition of Mr India Bodybuilding Championship held at Nehru Sidhant Kendra near Bhaiwala Chowk here on Sunday. Ph Pramot Meetei from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) proved too good for his rivals, as he was adjudged the overall champion in the masters’ section. Over 300 participants vied for top honours in this championship organised by the Punjabi Amateur Bodybuilding Association (PABA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilders’ Federation, in association with Aura Gym. Competition in the junior section for the Mr India Junior (U-21) besides in the masters’ section 40-50 years, 50-60 years and above 60 years was conducted during this championship. Besides, competition for the divyang (physically challenged) in the below 65-kg and above 65-kg weight category, were also organised. — OC

  • Masters (40-50 years): 1st Ph Pramot Meetei of CRPF; 2nd Namdev More of Gujarat; 3rd Kuldeep Singh of Haryana; 4th Ashok Kumar of Punjab and 5th Amardeep R Bhandare of Maharashtra
  • Masters (50-60 years): 1st S Srinivasan of Tamil Nadu; 2nd Hamid Bin Ali Al Jabri of Rajasthan; Akham Prechand Singh of Manipur; 3rd Mahesh M Gandhi of Maharashtra and 5th Sukhvinder Singh of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Masters (above 60 years): 1st Nandan Choudhary of West Bengal; 2nd Sayyed H Siddiqui of Maharashtra; 3rd Rajendra Saxena of Uttar Pradesh; 4th Ramamand K Menon of Maharashtra and Suresh Dhamanekar of Karnataka.
  • Physically challenged (below 65-kg): 1st Nitin Kumar of Delhi; 2nd Lokesh Chaudhary of Uttarakhand; 3rd Rajan Nanda of Punjab, 4th Bikramjit Singh of Punjab and 5th Ashwan Kumar Sonwani of Chhattisgarh.
  • Above 65 kg: 1st Gopal Saha of West Bengal, 2nd B Koteswara Rao of Andhra Pradesh; 3rd Indar Prakash Rao of Maharashtra; 4th Ravinder of Delhi and 5th Avtar Singh of Punjab.
