Ludhiana: A workshop on disaster and emergency risk management was organised for students and faculty of Manav Rachna International School by the NDRF. A lecture-cum-demonstration on disaster management to focus on capacity building and community awareness programme was organised by the search and rescue team of "A" Coy 7th NDRF led by AC/GD Suresh Kumar. The training session on strengthening national disaster response was organised to help the students understand the steps to be adopted to respond to various disaster situations. In the event, it was told that planning, coordination and high state of preparedness were the necessary steps to handle crisis successfully. The professional volunteers provided the students with proper training and education. The relevance of small precautions that can save the lives of millions in times of sudden disasters was highlighted. To create awareness among the students about the firefighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such emergency situation, a mock drill was carried out. It was organised to check the readiness of the school to face any such emergency during natural calamities. An exhibition of rescue equipment was also held on the school premises and a live demonstration was given to the students, explaining its uses and utility. Awareness on career prospects

Ludhiana:  The first career awareness workshop was held by WonderSkool for classes IX to XII. This initiative has been taken to make the students aware about different career options. Sourav Gupta, a resource person from WonderSkool, enlightened the students on different career options after Class XII, various entrance exams and prospective colleges. He guided the students of classes IX and X on the careful selection of stream after Class X. He talked about physics, computers and maths. He spoke at length on the management as a career option covering BBA, BMS and integrated MBA. He briefed the students on mass communication and hotel management too. He also discussed the criteria of getting admission abroad. He guided the students aspiring admissions in good colleges in sports quota. He also imparted detailed information on different entrance exam dates. An open session was also organised to discuss management as a career option. TNS

Indus student wins laurels

Ludhiana:  Mridul Jain of Class IV, Indus World School, Ludhiana, has bagged a gold medal and a bronze medal in 20th District Taekwondo Championship-2017 and State Taekwondo Championship, respectively. TNS

USPC Jain students shine

Ludhiana:  Students of USPC Jain Public School, Ludhiana, brought laurels by securing first position in Sahodya Inter-School Maths Quiz. It was held at Guru Gobind Public School, Mandi Gobindgarh. In this quiz competition, 17 schools participated and students of the USPC did well under the guidance of Neeraj Kalara, HoD, Maths Department. Among those who excelled included Adish Jain (XII-B), Nitish Kumar ((XII-A), Sudanshu (XI-A) and Kashish (X-B). The winners were felicitated by vice-principal Vinny Malhotra. The management of the school congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the teachers. TNS
