Discussion on POCSO Act
Ludhiana: Working on the need to aware society about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a seminar for educationists was organised at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar. The participants were acquainted about the legal framework of the Act. Measures related to safeguarding children’s interests at every stage of development were discussed to successfully implement the Act. Principal Neelam Mittar said children’s protection should be given top priority.
Swachhta Pakhwada observed
As per the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to observe Swachhta Pakhwada, BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organised a plethora of activities. Students collected biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste from in and around the campus and sent it for recycling. A lecture against the use of plastic was organised in which students were acquainted with the use and reuse of plastic, types of plastic pollution and how to manage plastic waste. Students also wrote slogans to spread awareness about the harmful effects of plastic.
Santosh public principal awarded
Sanntosh Bakshi, principal of Saint Bir Santosh Public School, was awarded by CT University for his contributions to the field of education and school’s continued success. She congratulated the university team for organising such an event to honour school leaders.
Gold for Green Land in basketball
Students of Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, brought laurels to the institution by winning gold in the Punjab board district-level basketball tournament held at Guru Nanak Stadium recently. Ashutosh of Class VIII and Ayush Ahuja of Class VII clinched gold in the U-14 category. Principal Jyoti Pujara congratulated the winners.
Clay-modelling activity
An activity based on clay modelling was conducted for UKG students at Police DAV Public School with the aim to develop their fine motor skills, imagination and spark creativity. Students used their creativity and intellectual skills to fruits and vegetables out of clay.
Catch-and-Match activity
BCM Kindergarten, Chandigarh Road, organised a catch-and-match activity for LKG kids. Students matched pictures of festivals in India and Canada with flags of the respective countries. Students of the same age group, in partner school at Canada, were also given knowledge about the festivals in India. In another activity, students adorned display boards with colourful worksheets.
Mother-and-child fashion show
A “Mom and child dress me up” competition was organised at Ryan International School, Dugri, for the mothers of three plaway schools— Nanhe Kadam, Cradle to Crayon and Babies Paradise. Mothers made costumes from newspapers for themselves and their children. The competition was judged on the basis of the thought put in to make the costumes and how the mother-child duo carried it.
Green Land bag silver in swimming
Swimmers of Green Land Convent School, Sector-32, brought laurels to the school by clinching medals at the Ludhiana schools district swimming tournament held at Punjab Agriculture University. Arshpreet Singh of Class VIII grabbed silver in U-14 50m breast stroke and 100m butterfly. Ravinoor Singh of Class VII claimed gold in the U-14 100m freestyle and silver in 50m breast stroke and back stroke, respectively. Both students have been selected for the state-level swimming tournament. TNS
