District villagers given tips on handling flood-like situation

Camps to spread awareness about how to deal with flood-like situation were organised at Dhulkot, Chakk Bhaie Ka, Nangal Kalan, Nangal Khurad and Bhaini Drera near here on Monday.

Senior officials of the Health Department, Agricultural Department and the Animal Husbandry Department counselled and helped villagers in handling the situation arising due to flooding of fields and residential areas during the ensuing monsoon season.

Block Development and Panchayat Officer Navneet Joshi said a draft plan for organising special camps had been prepared and approved by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Raikot, Dr Himanshu Gupta, in compliance with the directions received from Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Pradip Aggarwal.

Teams of officials from the Health Department, Agricultural Department and the Animal Husbandry Department had been constituted, keeping in view the requirements of farmers and residents of localities which were worst-hit due to flooding in the past few weeks. Executive Magistrate Bhupinder Singh and the BDPO were advised to ensure prior information to beneficiaries and completion of arrangements at gurdwaras of villages concerned on various days, confirmed Navneet Joshi.

Dr Varinder Singh Dhanda, Dr Ravi Sharma, Dr Deepak Bassi, Dr Harleen Kaur, Dr Gurjot Singh, Dr Baljit Kaur, Dr Anjali Garg, Dr Manpinder Kaur, Dr Harpreet Singh and Dr Jaskaran Singh headed the teams of health officials, while Block Agricultural Officer Dr Charanjit Singh and agricultural development officers Gurjit Kaur, Amrit Pal Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur guided the farmers on management of fields during rains.

Veterinary physicians Dr Puja Kalia, Dr Harbans Singh, Dr Rajinder Singh, Dr Harminder Singh, Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Dr KP Singh and Dr Rajiv Bhatti have been deployed to redress problems relating to animals.
