Doraha Public School is hosting Sahnewal Zone Cricket and Basketball Tournaments (Boys and Girls) being organised under the aegis of the Punjab Education Department.
The sporting extravaganza, in which as many as 34 teams from Sahnewal zone are participating, saw tough battles being contested with competitive spirit.
In the under 14 girl’s category in cricket, DCM Presidency Ludhiana secured first position while Darshan Academy, Bhamian, grabbed the second position and Tagore International School, Sahnewal, got the third spot.
In the under 14 girls’ basketball competition, hoopsters from Doraha Public School got the coveted title whereas Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Doraha, secured second position and DCM Presidency, Ludhiana, grabbed third place.
Likewise, in the boys’ under 17 category, Doraha Public School got the top honour while DCM Presidency, Ludhiana, got second position and Guru Harkrishan Public School, Doraha, stood third.
In the U-19 category, Doraha Public School, Doraha, Nankana Sahib Public School, Budewal, and Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamalpur, got first, second and third positions, respectively.
In the under 17 boys, the cricket tournament also saw some fiercely and closely contested matches among 16 teams. Doraha Public School emerged victorious by defeating USPC Jain Public School while Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamalpur, stood third. The cricket fiesta will conclude with the finals being scheduled for August 28.
Tapvir Singh, Director, Doraha Public School, while speaking on the occasion, said to bring out the best in their students, Doraha Public School had been at the forefront of organising such prestigious inter-sports extravagansas earlier as well.
