Double delight for Siya, Prerna in badminton c’ship

LUDHIANA: Siya Sharma and Prerna Dawar proved their supremacy by clinching two titles each in the Ludhiana District Senior and Masters Badminton Tournament which concluded at the Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday.

Ludhiana, December 3

Siya Sharma and Prerna Dawar proved their supremacy by clinching two titles each in the Ludhiana District Senior and Masters Badminton Tournament which concluded at the Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday.

Siya bagged titles in the womens’ singles as well as doubles category while Prerna won womens’ double and mixed double sections.

In the mens’ section, Vakul Sharma came out triumphant as Mitaksh Gandhi conceded the final midway and had to content with the second place.

Mohinder Singh Grewal, president, District Badminton Association, Ludhiana (DBAL), gave away prizes to the winners. Jai Parkash Shand, Anupam Kumaria and Charanjit Singh, vice president, general secretary and technical secretary, respectively of the association were also present on the occasion.

On the basis of their performance in this tournament, players, including Vakul Sharma, Mitaksh Gandhi, Lakshay Singla, Puneetinder Singh, Hakam Singh,Siya Sharma, Prerna Dawar, Manroop Kaur, Pramela Sharma and Manil Mahajan have been selected to represent Ludhiana in the forthcoming Punjab State Inter-District Badminton Championship.
