Drug addict nabbed on charge of murder

SAHNEWAL: The Koom Kalan police have claimed to arrest the alleged murderer of Gopi Kumar, a resident of Lakhowal village, who died due to drug overdose on December 8.

Sahnewal, December 11

The Koom Kalan police have claimed to arrest the alleged murderer of Gopi Kumar, a resident of Lakhowal village, who died due to drug overdose on December 8.

The ADCP-4 Rajveer Singh Boparai and SHO Koom Kalan Harjinder Singh informed that the accused Varinder Singh, alias, Captan, a resident of Lakhowal village, was hooked to drugs. On December 8, he took Gopi to an isolated place and offered him drugs.

After consuming drugs, Gopi did not move. As he failed to return home, his sister-in-law noticed him lying in an inebriated condition and informed her husband who immediately took him to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors.

Sandeep Kumar, brother of the deceased alleged that Varinder gave over doze of drugs to Gopi.

A case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered against Varinder.

The SHO Koom Kalan said, “His blood samples have been taken and more revelations are expected in the coming days.”
