Despite the government schools facing technical glitches in using the mid- day meal app, the Education Department has released a notice against the schools for not updating their records on daily basis.
The mid-day meal app was introduced to reduce the paperwork which was required for maintaining proper records.
“All schools are required to use mid-day meal mobile app daily for updating record. It has been noticed that some schools are following the directions while others are flouting the norms.
Principals shall take this as a last warning and must abide by the instructions,” reads the letter sent to all schools by the mid-day meal society, Punjab.
The schools need to update information related to number of students present in the school, students served with mid-day meal to calculate the quantity of rice, wheat and other vegetables used for preparing meals.
Amarjeet Kaur, a government teacher at GHS, Salaudi said, “Paperwork is easier as compared to mid-day meal app. Though it has been designed to reduce paperwork, still we have to maintain a separate record. Sometimes, we face difficulty in uploading the details on the app.”
A government teacher deputed in government school at Kotla Bhari village said, “We have been trying to install the mid-day meal mobile app but cannot download it. We’ll speak to the teachers of other schools to address the issue.”
