Required material for children with special needs will be distributed during the special camps under the Samarg Sikhiya Abhiyaan being organised under the supervision of District Education Officer (Elementary) Rajinder Kaur. The first camp in this league was held at Government Primary School (boys), Jawahar Nagar, today.
The camp was held from 10 am to 4 pm. In today’s programme, a total of 34 kids were given wheelchairs, calipers, walkers and other required materials.
Deputy Education Officer (Primary) Kuldeep Singh said the government made it easy to provide the required material to needy kids. Gulzar Shah, district co-ordinator, said osteogenesis imperfecta, cerebral palsy, blind, hearing impaired kids were called in today’s camp, during which four CP chairs, three wheelchairs, two tricycles, 22 hearing aids, seven rolator, two Braille kits, 10 elbow crutches and two smart cranes were distributed among children.
More of these camps will be organised at government schools and aided schools from November 28 to December 12. Students, who were identified and examined by the state health team in January-February 2019, can also avail the benefit of the camps. The team that examined the students included a team from Kanpur, panels of doctors sent by Civil Surgeon, district special educator Pradeep Rai and physiotherapist Preeti Thagar.
