A youth of Brahampur village in Ludhiana district was allegedly murdered near his house by farmer and his accomplice with sharp weapons on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Dalwar Singh, alias Bara (40). He worked as an electrician at Brahampur village.
The suspects, identified as Balkar Singh of Brahampur village and his nephew Gurjant Singh Jantta of Sultanpur village in Sangrur district, are at large. An old rivalry is cited be the reason behind murder.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Balkar and his accomplice allegedly attacked Dalwar after calling him at cremation ground road on the village outskirts at 9 pm on Tuesday. The deceased is survived by his wife and two children. The main suspect, Balkar Singh, had retired from the Army recently. It is suspected that the victim was called out of his house on pretext of striking a compromise regarding some old issue.
As soon Bara came out assailants attacked him with swords and slit his throat after he fell unconscious on the road a few yards away from his house. Profusely bleeding Bara was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The Raikot Station House Officer, Nidhan Singh, said an FIR under Section 302, IPC, was registered against Balkar and Gurjant and further investigation was started under the Raikot DSP, Sukhnaj Singh, and the DSP (D), Dilbagh Singh.
“We have constituted separate police teams, which are raiding hideouts of the suspects. They will be apprehended soon,” said Nidhan Singh.
