Ensure proper cleanliness before schools reopen: DEO

With monsoons on its anvil and schools reopening from July 1, the District Education Officer has given instructions to all the school heads to inspect their schools.

The DEO has asked the school heads to make sure that water is disposed of easily from the school premises so that the studies of the students are not affected. They have also been asked to check the roof of the school building. Instructions have been issued as schools will begin on July 1 after summer vacations and monsoons are also on its anvil.

DEO Swaranjeet Kaur in the instructions issued to the school heads has said in case the roof of the school building needed repair, then they should take the help of the NGOs and get them repaired and in case any room appears to be unsafe then they should contact the PWD office.

She further said the source of the water should be cleaned on the last Saturday of every month and the date on which the water tanks were cleaned should also be displayed on the notice board. In case it is required the school can take help from the Health Department for the chlorination of water. She further said before the schools re-open, the school premises should be cleaned and bathrooms should also be in good shape.

Inspection teams formed

The inspection teams have been formed by the Education Department who will be visiting the government schools to check cleanliness and the status of hygiene in schools. The teams will start their checking from July 1. The teams will submit their reports to the department. They will take into account the timetable of classes, collect information regarding the sale of books and uniforms, see that there are adequate number of benches. They will also collect information regarding the admission process at schools.
