Ex-serviceman killed as PRTCbus rams into bike

An ex-serviceman was killed in a road accident on Elevated Road leading towards Chand Cinema from Jagraon bridge on Tuesday afternoon after his bike was hit by a speeding and rashly driven PRTC bus bearing registration No. PB08DS-6125. The deceased identified as Jaspal Singh (64), was a resident of Basti Jodhewal.

As per the available information, traffic cops were already present on the road, who took the victim to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The police said the deceased was on way to his home after visiting the pension office when a speeding roadways bus hit him from behind and due to accident, he suffered serious head injuries and succumbed.

After the accident bus driver managed to flee from the spot leaving passengers on road. So far, the police have registered a case of negligent driving against the bus driver, who is yet to be identified.
