Facile win for Madhav, Bhavishya, Sidharth

LUDHIANA:Madhav Sharma and Bhavishya Jindal (U-12 boys’ category) and Sidharth (U-16 category) achieved facile victories on the opening day of the 1st Ludhiana District Lawn Tennis Tournament being held at courts outside the Multipurpose Indoor Hall, opposite Guru Nanak Stadium, here today.

Madhav Sharma and Bhavishya Jindal (U-12 boys’ category) and Sidharth (U-16 category) achieved facile victories on the opening day of the 1st Ludhiana District Lawn Tennis Tournament being held at courts outside the Multipurpose Indoor Hall, opposite Guru Nanak Stadium, here today.

In the boys’ (U-12) section, Madhav Sharma beat Arya Goyal 6-0, 6-0 while Bhavishya Jindal overwhelmed Pratham Kapoor 4-0, 4-0. 

In another match of the same age group, Tathagat Jindal beat Ishan Sodhi 6-3, 6-4 to advance into the next round.

In the boys U-16 group, Sidharth beat Shivam 6-0, 6-1 and Chetanveer defeated Veerinder 6-1, 6-0 while in the girls’ section (open), Seerat outplayed Trisha, Arundhati beat Shinepreet and Prabhjot Kaur outclassed Deeksha.

Earlier, Kartar Singh Sehmbhey, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, inaugurated the tournament in which more than 100 players are taking part in different age categories. 

Pardeep Sharma, president, Ludhiana Lawn Tennis Association,  thanked the chief guest.

Organising association members Rajeev Sharma, Pankaj Maria, Sanjeev Sharma, Amritpal Singh Kooner, Rajinder Singh and Prof Puneet Jindal were present. 

First day results

Men (open): Sarvesh beat Sumit 6-4, 6-0; Siddharth beat Parminder 6-4, 6-1; Manhar beat Mohit 6-0, 6-0; Ganga Singh beat Sahil Garg 6-0, 6-0 and Parminder Singh beat Hehtab Singh 6-2, 6-0.

Girls (open): Prabhjot Kaur bea Deeksha 6-3, 6-0; Seerat beat Trisha 6-0, 6-0 and Arundhati beat Shinepreet 6-2, 6-4.

Boys (U-16): Chetanveer beat Veerinder 6-1, 6-0; Aditya Goyal beat Aaradhya 7-5, 6-1; Sidharth beat Shivam 6-0, 6-1 and Vasu beat Yuvraj 7-5, 6-3.

Boys (U-12): Tahagat Jindal beat Ishan Sodhi 6-3, 6-4; Bhavishya Jindal beat Pratham Kapoor 4-0, 4-0 and Madhav Sharma beat Arya Goyal 6-0, 6-0.
