CT University, under the Research and Innovation Centre (RICE), organised a faculty development programme (FDP) on research methodology. ‘How to write good thesis and multiple regression analysis’ was the theme of the programme. Surat Singh was the resource person for the programme.
Singh is an expert in econometrics with an experience of four decades of teaching and research in the premier educational institutes of the region. The faculty development programme was held in two sessions, in which the last session included a workshop.
The programme witnessed a participation of PhD research scholars from various research backgrounds, and faculty members and students, who would be opting for research projects. In the morning session, Surat Singh acquainted the participants with tips on how to write good research papers, synopsis and thesis. In the afternoon session, he gave the participants practical exposure to multiple regression techniques.
Singh touched every major concept related to writing research papers. He also elaborated how research scholars could save themselves from plagiarism. He shared in detail about various writing styles such as the APA format, MLA, Chicago and Howard. He also discussed the difference between review papers and research papers. In the practical session, he demonstrated various softwares which are used while writing a research paper. —TNS
