Ludhiana, May 14
As many as four undergraduate (MBBS) students of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) were awarded the “Short term research studentship” (STS) of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
The students selected for the project, include Karan, Archita Chawla, Evani Jain and Chirag Gupta. Three of the students will be undertaking research on “Epilepsy” while the fourth will look into the usage of complementary and alternate medicine (CAM) in the therapy.
The DMCH Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri, and Vice-Principal, Dr Gurpreet S Wander, also chairman, Research and Development Centre, said, “Every year, many undergraduate students from various colleges of the country apply for the short-term research studentship programme. It is a matter of pride that the DMCH students have been selected for this prestigious programme.”
According to professor and head of the Neurology, Dr Gagandeep Singh, the main purpose of the programme is to promote interest and aptitude for research among medical undergraduates so that they can familiarise themselves with research methodology and techniques during short-duration association with their seniors in the ongoing research programme or by undertaking independent projects.— TNS
