Ludhiana: The Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana, organised a Freshers’ party to welcome new comers. The event commenced by offering a prayer to the Almighty and lighting of the traditional lamp. Seniors and new comers participated in a series of activities, including singing, freestyle dance, bhangra etc.

Bajaj College 

Students of the Bajaj College celebrated freshers’ party with fervour. Smile Vig, a student of fashion designing performed a mesmerising dance. BCom students presented a Bollywood retro dance. Aditya Mehta surprised everyone with his beat-boxing skills. Saksham and Deval left everyone awestruck with melodies of guitar. A ramp walk was also held to select Mr and Ms Freshers.

Psychology fair organised

The Department of Psychology of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised a psychological testing activity “Psyche-logos testing fair”. On this occasion, students were made to assess aspiration levels, personality types, levels of adjustment and IQ levels of other students. For this purpose various standardised psychological tests were used.

Interaction with ‘Google Bebe’

The CT University in association with the Disha Women Welfare Trust, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) organised an interactive session with Kulwant Kaur popularly known as “Google Bebe” on her speciality of narrating tales of Indian history in general and of Sikhism in particular. The lady addressed all the diverse questions by students and faculty with extreme aptness. Google Bebe said youth must learn to live with good deeds, see good and end evil side. She stressed on women empowerment and importance of women in society.

IKGPTU gives special chance 

The IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) has given a special chance to students who could not pass their degree within stipulated period. A special examination will be held in November at the IKGPTU Campus, Jalandhar Road, Kapurthala. Dr (Col) HS Singha, Director Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology, Ludhiana, said last date for submission of exam forms and admit card will be October 25.  Students have to submit forms at their respective colleges along with a fee of Rs 5,000 per subject. BArch students (2008 batch), BPharmacy, BTech (all branches), BHMCT (4 year) course upto 2010 batch, BPharmacy, MSc (all courses), BBA, BCA of 2012 batch and MSc, MBA and  MCA (2014 batches) will be eligible to apply. Students can download form from their respective login ID or from www.ptuexam.com.

Traffic awareness rally held

Students of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a helmet awareness rally in association with the Traffic Police. The rally was flagged off by Principal Dr Mukti Gill and ACP Traffic Gurdev Singh. Students traversed on two-wheelers through Fountain Chowk, Bhaiwala Chowk and Aarti Chowk. Students urged people to wear helmets and drive in their respective lanes. The motorists who were obeying traffic rules were offered flowers and sweets.

Hindi Diwas celebrated

The GHG Harparkash College of Education for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, Ludhiana, celebrated Hindi Diwas with full zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Dr Amandeep Kaur while addressing the audience emphasised on the importance of Hindi. Assistant Professor in Hindi Dr Sarvjeet Kaur also shared her views on importance of Hindi. MEd and BEd students presented speech and poems about the history of Hindi. — TNS
