Ludhiana: The ‘Swatchhta Pakhwada’ initiated by the Khalsa College for Women (from September 1 to 15) concluded on Saturday with a prize distribution function during the morning assembly. A number of clubs and societies participated and various activities were organised in and outside the college campus. The drive kick started with the cleanliness club taking out a rally. Hostel mess clean day was observed and a team of teachers inspected the mess and sensitised the students about the importance of health and hygiene. An essay-writing contest was organised on ‘Innovative ways for spreading the message of hygiene’ and the winners were honored. The NSS volunteers visited the slum areas and apprised the children of personal cleanliness and hygiene. A visit to an orphanage was also organised and a visit to the ESIC Hospital was held to evoke the sensitivity towards the virtues of sanitation.

Workshop on business values held

A workshop on ‘Why values are important for business organisations?’ was organized for the students of business management at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women. Resource person Lakhwinder Singh Kang, Professor, Department of Commerce, GNDU, Amritsar, shared with students his valuable lessons and practical knowledge on the respective topic and its applicability in their future life. Students were told about various concepts such as ethical behavior, cultural values and various critical issues around the world regarding work culture and its implications.

Students felicitated

Bajaj College honoured students of the fashion designing department for their participation in fashion exhibitions, Lavan Phere and The House of Labels. Not only did these students receive tremendous acclaim for their designs and craftsmanship, they were also among the few stalls that sold out completely during the exhibitions. The Principal of the college, Dr Shikha Dhall, lauded the efforts of the students and congratulated. — TNS
