GADVASU alumni form association

The graduates of the College of Dairy Science and Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), have formed an alumni association.
Gursharn Singh, Assistant Professor, GADVASU, said the college was established in 2008, and the first batch graduated in 2012. Since then, seven batches of BTech (Dairy Technology) have graduated from the college. There was a common desire from the alumni to form the association.
A meeting of the first three graduated batches was arranged, in which faculty of the college was also invited. The alumni association was formed unanimously by the members present. An advisory committee of the association was also formed.
Venus Bansal, Assistant Professor at GADVASU, said 10 members were included in the advisory committee. Gursharn Singh was nominated the president and Akashdeep Singh, research scholar, Massey University, New Zealand, was appointed vice-president. Bansal was appointed secretary, while Nirvair Singh, dairy development officer at the Dairy Development Department, Punjab, was made joint secretary. Manpreet Singh, assistant managerat Milkfed Punjab was given the post of treasurer.
Members of association decided that they would work for the upliftment of the dairy sector of Punjab. Issues faced by the dairy sector would be addressed by the members through their respective establishments, they said.
