Gang of robbers busted, 6 held

With the arrest of six persons, including a woman, the Jagraon police have claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who were involved in several cases of loot and snatching in the area. The arrested members of the gang have been identified as Pawandeep Singh, alias Peet of Birmi village; Lakhwinder Singh, alias Laddi of Issewal village; Paramveer Singh, alias Happy of Issewal village; Sukhdeep Singh, alias Tidda of Mansura village; Sarban Singh of Pabbian village; and Varinder Kaur of Birmi village in Ludhiana district.
They were arrested at a stadium on the Talwandi road, Raikot, by a police team, led by Inspector Jarnail Singh, SHO of Raikot (City), following a tip-off last night. The police recovered a countrymade pistol, two cartridges, a “dah”, “kirach” and a “mochna” along with three motorcycles, 10 mobile phones and gold ornaments weighing 70 grams from them.
The police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act against the accused.
With their arrest, the police have claimed to have solved many incidents of loot and snatching registered in Ludhiana, Barnala and Moga districts. “With the arrest of these persons, we have traced 21 cases of loot and snatching in Ludhiana (rural) and other districts. Further investigation is under way and more disclosures are likely to be made in the coming days,” said SSP-Jagraon Surjit Singh.
According to the police, the accused have confessed to their involvement in several incidents of loot and snatching that took place at Birmi, Fagla, Sehbajpura, Kutba, Boparai, Sujapur, Atiana, Jhammat, Dakha, Noorpura, Talwandi Rai, Issewal and other places during the past couple of months.
