The arrested persons have been identified as Shahrukh Khan, a resident of Meer Vihar, Delhi; and Summi Sorkal, a native of Kolkata and at present residing in Delhi.

Additional DCP Surendra Lamba said the accused also prepared fake agreements with residents seeking maids or servants with the assurance that domestic help provided by them was genuine and fulfilled the required norms.

“After taking an advance from the house owner, servants started working at the house. Within a few days, servants provided by the agency fled the place. In such cases of mysterious disappearance of servants, house owners, too, face legal action” Lamba said. Lamba has cautioned residents that if they hire any domestic help from an agency, they should first get their details verified from the police, and they should allow servants to enter their house only after getting verification documents. “If any household is found employing servant without verification, the house owner can also be booked under Section 188 of the IPC for defying police directions issued under Sections 144 of the CrPc.

Rising suicides: Police plan counselling helpline

Additional DCP Surendra Lamba said since cases of suicide due to matrimonial disputes, depression among students or due to several other reasons were on the rise, the police were planning to launch a special helpline number where experts, including doctors and psychologists, will counsel callers to make them mentally strong, so they shun the idea of suicide.
