Gangster Lalla had recently come out on bail from the court as he was facing a criminal case, the police said.

The crime

The incident took place near Damoria Bridge on December 24 at 3:45 pm when Jimmy called gangster Lalla after the latter had snatched money from his friend Mohan Lal near the Bharat Nagar Chowk area earlier during the day. “I was returning from the court complex after a hearing. While I was waiting for an auto near Bharat Nagar Chowk, Chota Lalla and four others arrived in a car and snatched Rs 22,000 from me after beating me,” said Mohan Lal. “Jimmi knew Lalla and when he called him and asked to return the money, Lalla said he was coming there,” he added. “We were standing near Damoria Bridge when Lalla and others arrived in a car. They immediately started firing gun shots at us. While I escaped unhurt, Jimmy was hit on the chin,” said Mohan Lal.
