GHG Khalsa College throws open shooting range for all

In a bid to promote shooting and archery, Guru Har Gobind Khalsa College (GHG), Gurusar Sudhar, has opened its doors for sports enthusiasts in the region.

College Principal Prof Jaswant Singh Goraya said anyone could avail full benefit of these sports facilities by paying a nominal fee, which has been fixed on ‘no profit, no loss’ basis.

Goraya added that their college has an ultra modern state-of-the-art shooting range, which was inaugurated by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC on May 1, 2019.

He said this shooting range has been developed to ensure that it acts as a propeller for youth in the region. He said if any outsider wants to use the shooting range, per month charges with the college weapon have been fixed at Rs 2,500 and with one’s own weapon the charges have been fixed at Rs 2,000. Annual charges with the college weapon will be Rs 25,000 and with own weapon Rs 20,000.

Similarly, Rs 1,000 fee has been fixed for a month for archery coaching, Rs 5,000 for six months and Rs 10,000 for the entire year.

Tejinder Singh, HoD, Sports Department, said the college has produced players of national and international-level, including Ashish Chaudhary (indoor archery ) , Gulshan (archery ), Rajni Petro (archery ), Mahima (taekwando) and Mansi (sailing).

Ludhiana DPRO Prabhdeep Singh said the decision would help achieve target under the ‘Mission Tandrust Punjab’.
