Ludhiana, January 29
The government must ensure that there is adequate ‘contingency fund’ for maintenance purposes in schools, SP Oswal, Managing Director, Vardhman Textiles, said during the inauguration of the new building of the Government Primary School, Giaspura. The new building has been built by Vardhman Textiles, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He pointed out that the ‘contingency fund’, of around Rs2,000 is not even enough to pay for the electricity bills, and it must be raised by the government. He was speaking when Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had come as a chief guest for the inauguration of the building.
He informed that the group had spent Rs1.82 crore on the construction of building consisting 14 rooms, two toilets, and facility of clean drinking water and benches in the classes. “In schools, the staff must have a vision for character building and intellectual development of students,” he said. — TNS
