GNIMT to start new course

Ludhiana: The IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar, has accorded sanction to Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, to start a bachelors course in fashion design (BSc) with effect from the 2019-20 session. It will be a 3 three-year course, consisting of six semesters, with a comprehensive syllabus set according to the needs of the industry. The expert committee of the IKGPTU had visited GNIMT and recommended to start the course after fulfilling the norms laid down by the IKGPTU and University Grants Commission (UGC).

1,100 candidates apply in GNDEC

On Wednesday, admission seekers from across the country applied at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC). Over 1,100 applicants have applied for 570 seats in different streams, including civil engineering, computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, IT, and production and mechanical engineering. According to the college staff, as many as 300 seats were filled earlier through Punjab Technical University (PTU). Principal Sehijpal Singh said, “The college has received good certifications and has its own autonomous academic and examination system, which is doing very well.” KS Gill, dean of academics, said: “Seats in various engineering colleges were not getting filled but there is a huge rush of students seeking admission at GNDEC because of its reputation.” All seats could not be filled by PTU as 70 per cent seats have been reserved for the rural quota. IK Gujral PTU results

Khanna: Students of BBA final semester of the AS Group of Institution made the institution proud by securing excellent results in IK Gujral Punjab Technical University examinations. Akashdeep Singh Riat secured first position in the college with an 8.0 SGPA, followed by Siman Kaushal with 7.82 SGPA. Harpreet Singh, director of the institute, congratulated the students, faculty and parents. He wished them a successful and rewarding career ahead. Rajiv Rai Mehta, president of the institute, Sushil Kumar vice-president, BK Batra general secretary, and Naveen Thamman, secretary, also congratulated the students on their stellar performance. OC
