GNPS beat DCM Presidency School by 61 runs

Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS), Sarabha Nagar, beat DCM Presidency School by 61 runs on the second day of the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Cricket Tournament (U-17) being held at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, here today.

The GNPS won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 114 runs, losing three wickets in 10 overs. The main run-getters were Jaskirat and Ishwinder who made 47 and 37 runs, respectively, while Alampreet contributed 16 runs and Rajveer scored 12 runs.

However, DCM Presidency School could muster 53 runs after losing four wickets as they fell short of balls. Dev made 21 runs and Prabhjot chipped in 18 runs.

For the winners, Anshu was the lone wicket-taker who scalped three wickets, giving away 35 runs.

In the second match, Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, defeated HVM Public School by 42 runs.

Batting first, in the stipulated ten overs, Sacred Heart School made 123 runs after losing four wickets. Main contributors for them were Abhay Partap Singh (55) and Shivansh (30).

For HVM School, Amrish captured two wickets for 25 runs and Raghav claimed one wicket for 31 runs, while Rahul got one wicket for 22 runs.

Chasing the target, HVM School scored 75 runs for the loss of four wickets. Deepak was the top scorer with 23 runs. Anurag and Rahul scored 15 and 14 runs, respectively.

For Sacred Heart School, Danish chipped in with two wickets for five runs, while Abhay Partap Singh and Chetanya secured one wicket each to help their side to wrap up the tie easily.

The third match was played between Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, and BCM School, Dugri, in which former came out triumphant by 28 runs.

Sacred Heart School scored 102 runs, losing just two wickets. Karanvir and Hameer scored 35 and 28 runs, respectively, to enable their teams reach a defendable score.

BCM School made 76 runs after losing seven wickets, thus falling well short of the target. Their innings revolved around Dushyant (19), Gurjeet (14) and Mankirat (12).

For the winners, Aryan took two wickets for 17 runs and Vatsal grabbed one wicket for 13 runs, while Saksham took one wicket for two runs.

In the fourth match of the day, MGM Public School outplayed DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, by 37 runs.

DAV School won the toss and invited MGM School to bat first. In 10 overs, MGM School scored 86 runs losing seven wickets in which the main contributions came through Rajveer (39) and Subhash (9).

For DAV School, Charan, Piyush and Saransh captured one wicket each.

DAV School’s innings culminated at 50 runs with batsmen Yuvraj and Charan reaching double figure who made 16 and 10 runs, respectively.

For the winning side, Subhash, Karamvir, Saurabh, Milind and Rajveer shared the bowling honours taking one wicket each.
