Recently, during a Shobha Yatra - ahead of Shivratri - small kids dressed as deities were enjoying their stint as God for today. All of a sudden, rain started pouring and in no time, they took out their umbrellas with cartoon characters. Both the kids were fascinated by the ‘Motoo-Patloo’ umbrella and got busy in admiring it. It was delightful to see the way these kids got lost in their own world and forgot the duty they were performing or the character they were representing at that particular time.

Unlike a Mayor!

Though a Congressman and elected on its ticket, city mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu seems to be indulging in petty politics, and at times, stooping too low to please his political masters (read senior local leaders of the party he comes from) which is unbecoming of the dignity of the first citizen. Recently, when the cabinet minister from the city was facing flak for his browbeating attitude towards officials - made known through an audio clip, the mayor opened his mouth too wide in defence of the minister. Interestingly, the issue which had infuriated the minister neither belonged to the civic body nor did the land under encroachment was owned by MC. It was indeed a manifestation of ‘foot in the mouth syndrome’.
