A major fire was reported in a poly bag-manufacturing factory located at Focal Point, Phase IV, on Wednesday. Loss is said to be in several lakhs.
Varun Ralhan said he owned Suman Flexipack India where a fire broke out this morning around 7.30 am. The local residents and the factory workers tried to put out the fire but they couldn’t douse the massive flames.
He said a short-circuit was the cause of the fire which destroyed finished goods and machinery worth lakhs. Ralhan said the exact loss was yet to be ascertained.
It took four fire engines two hours to douse the massive flames. The factory owner said there was no worker in the factory when the fire broke out. All workers had left the factory around 7 am.
Shrishti Nath Sharma, Station Fire Officer, said the factory had no fire arrangements. Neither did the owner have an NOC from the Fire Department. Action would be taken as per law, said Sharma.
