Ludhiana, August 2
At the end of the second day of registeration for admission in Bachelor of Arts, the Government College in Ludhiana (East) received 77 forms online.
“On the first day, eight applicants registered themselves but on Thursday we received 69 applications online and the total number now stands at 77,” said Dharam Singh Sandhu, Principal of the college.
As the building of the college is yet to be constructed therefore, classes will be held at the SCD Government College.
He said, “Earlier, it was decided to hold classes at one of the community centres at Jamalpur but keeping in view the convenience of students it has been decided to hold classes at the SCD Government College.”
He added that a lot of infrastructure, including library, ground, music rooms etc is required for students and it was not possible to hold the classes at a community centre.
The registration process will close on August 8 and admission procedure will commence on August 9. At present, admission in just BA is being offered in which there are 80 seats.
One of the students who applied for admission said she was disheartened after she failed to get admission in any of the two government colleges in the city but now hopes to secure a seat in this college. “Opportunity has knocked again and I applied for the admission at the new Government College,” she said.
