Students of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, proved too good for their opponents as they won five medals including four gold medals to lift the overall trophy in the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (LSSC) Chess Tournament held at Ryan International School, Dugri branch, on Thursday.
Ryan International School, Jamalpur, notched up two gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal to finish as the first runners-up, whereas hosts Ryan International School, Dugri, won one gold medal and two bronze medals to secure the third position.
Participants from 13 schools of the central zone of LSSC vied for top honours in this tournament, in Under-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14 years’ categories with each team comprising two players.
Ram Parkash and Surinder Marwaha, both international rated chess players, were the guests of honour during the tournament. Shilpi Gurtu, Principal of the host school, gave away medals and participation certificates to the participants. She exhorted them to work hard and bring fame to their respective schools.
