Gujarati flavour at INIFD this time

The Gujarati culture was highlighted everywhere as ‘Essence of Gujarat’ was organised at the INIFD today.
Students were dressed up in Gujarati attire. Boys wore dhoti, while girls wore ‘chaniyo choli’. Students danced on Gujarati folk songs. Several stalls had been set up to showcase the culinary traditions and delicacies from the state including dhokla, khandvi, thepla, khakra, kairi chhach, onion pakora. Pani-puri, was relished by visitors as well students.
Diksha, a student, said all students made Gujarati dishes by themselves and enjoyed the culture of the state closely.
Another student said the culture of the state some common interests with the Punjabi culture, as Gujarati people like colourful clothes, dance and food, while Punjabis are also passionate about these things.
“I enjoyed the food of Gujarat. It has a good variety and something or the other to relish from Punjabi taste buds also,” a fashion design student said.
Nitika, another student said she had also studied about the traditional attire of the state, and now, during their classes, they would derive and incorporate the design elements from the clothing tradition of the state while designing clothes.
Amardeep Lall from the institute said students are apprised of the culture of different states of the country and this event today was part of it.
Students understand several facts of fashion and designing styles of the states as well, she added.
