Ludhiana, September 12

Guru Nanak Senior Secondary School, Janta Nagar, beat Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, to annex the title in the girls’ section in the 18th Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Softball Tournament, which concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Wednesday. The finals turned out to be a keenly contested affair with players of both the teams going all out to get the better of others and eventually, Guru Nanak School girls emerged winners by a narrow margin (1-0).

However, the final in the boys’ section, played between BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, and Government High School, Kasabad, was a mismatch in which the former came out triumphant without being challenged (10-0).

In the match for the hard-line cup in the girls’ section, Government High School, Kasabad, warded off stiff challenge from BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, before wrapping up the cliff-hanger 1-0 to content with the third position. Puja was the lone scorer for the winning side.

Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, gave away prizes to the winners. Pran Nath Passi, general secretary, Punjab Softball Association, and members of the district softball association were present on this occasion.
