A food safety team of the Health Department today conducted a raid at Unique Food Factory, Janata Nagar. The unit is engaged in the preparation of the traditional sweets.
Four samples of milk cake, “khoya burfi”, chocolate roll and “laddoo” were collected by the team and sent to the food laboratory in Chandigarh. The entire stock of khoya burfi and milk cake, weighing about 1 quintal, has been seized.
Ingredients as “sooji”, refined oil, corn flour and skimmed milk powder were used to make milk cake and “burfi” instead of pure milk and pure khoya, revealed Dr Abnash Kumar, District Health Officer.
The food safety team included Dr Abnash Kumar and food safety officers Ravinder Garg, Manoj Khosla, Harpreet Kaur and Yogesh Goyal.
