To lodge a protest against Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggrawal for failing to take action against the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in an accident case of three minor children of which two had died in a road accident at Jodhewal recently, an activist of the Hindu Sikh Jagriti Sena on Wednesday shaved his head in front of the DC office.
The protesters raised slogans against the Deputy Commissioner and warned that if the district administration did not meet their demands, they would further intensify their protest.
Notably, on September 20 as well, a friend of the two minor boys who lost their lives had also shaved his head in front of the DC office, and on Wednesday, they again followed the practice alleging that the Deputy Commissioner was not paying heed to their demands.
Parveen Dang, president of the Hindu Sikh Jagriti Sena, led the protest. He said when two minor boys, namely Parshotam and Jagdish, were crushed to death by a mini-truck near Jodhewal Chowk, the Jagriti Sena had given a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in favour of the kin of the deceased boys. The Deputy Commissioner was warned that if demands were not met, they would shave their heads in front of his office.
He alleged that the under-construction over-bridge near Basti Jodhewal was lying pending from long time which was causing huge inconvenience to commuters, and it was also becoming the cause of road mishaps.
He alleged the administration was also least interested in taking action against the NHAI which had left the highway accident-prone.
“Like a son shaves his head after the death of his father in Hindu religion, our activist shaves his head considering the district administration dead,” Dang said.
